The Postgraduate Program in Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation (PPGECB), at UESC, received grade 6 in the last CAPES Quadrennial Assessment (2017-2020). Concepts 6 and 7 are awarded to courses with international excellence, compared to the most important teaching and research centers in the world.
PPGECB began its activities in 2009, and the quality of the course was evidenced by the grade 4 awarded by CAPES at the time of its approval, counting only with the master's level. In 2011, the course had its doctoral program approved, a very important step towards consolidating research and training of human resources in ecology and biodiversity conservation in the region.
By the end of 2024 PPGECB has formed 120 masters and 83 doctors, and has approximately 70 students enrolled. The program team is formed by 23 accredited professors, of which 19 are permanent and 4 are collaborators. Of the permanent professors, 7 are exclusive to the PPG, and 11 are CNPq productivity scholarship holders.
The PPGECB Team would like to thank all managers, students, professors, pos-docs and collaborators who contributed directly or indirectly to us reaching this level of excellence, believing in and encouraging the course's innovative proposal in this important region of northeastern Brazil for conservation of biodiversity.
