Seminars

The discipline Seminars I in Research on Ecology and Conservation is mandatory for all master's and doctoral students in the PPGECB and must be taken in the first year of the program (between the 6th and 12th month after admission to the program). The discipline is divided into two stages. In the first stage, the student must submit the introduction, literature review, justifications, and objectives of the project in writing, in addition to presenting their research project, demonstrating its theoretical, technical, and logistical feasibility, and discussing the preliminary results obtained. In the second stage, the student must teach a 40-50 minute class on a broad topic of Ecology or Conservation related to the dissertation. The discipline Seminars I in Research on Ecology and Conservation is equivalent to the qualification exam exclusively for master's students.

The discipline Seminars II in Research on Ecology and Conservation is mandatory and exclusive for doctoral students in the PPGECB and must be taken by the second year of the program (between the 6th and 24th month after admission to the program). The discipline consists of the evaluation by a committee of a theoretical review manuscript, in the format for submission to qualified journals in the area of Biodiversity of CAPES according to the internal resolution of the program, and a public lecture on a topic related to Ecology and Conservation that will be elaborated by the collegiate and assigned to each of the students in the class. The discipline Seminars II in Research on Ecology and Conservation is equivalent to the Qualification Exam exclusively for doctoral students. More informations here.
